WHAT HAPPENED?
Araujo suffered an injury last month that is expected to see him miss the start of the season, causing Barcelona to consider leaving him unregistered for their squad for the first half of the campaign. According to , this has angered Araujo, with the player now open to leaving the club this summer.

THE EXPLANATION
The registration situation is not the only issue that has frustrated Araujo, with the Urugayan also said to be angry that no-one from the club defended him when he was sent off against Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League quarter-final in April. He also had a public spat with teammate Ilkay Gundogan over the criticism.

With Araujo's contract set to expire in 2026, sporting director Deco is said to be in favour of selling the 25-year-old if a renewal could not be agreed. A contract still remains on the table for Araujo, however the player is not thought to be convinced by the financial package being offered to him. While Araujo is open to a move abroad, his injury situation has all but halted the interest in him, meaning his future could remain uncertain going forward.
