da roleta: According to a report in The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a £15m January move for Norwich City right-back Max Aarons, which suggests that manager Mauricio Pochettino might be about to go back on his word.
What’s the word, then?
da bet7: Well, the 18-year-old only made his senior debut for the Canaries in August, but he has become a regular fixture in the starting XI for the Championship high-flyers despite his tender years.
That form hasn’t gone unnoticed by Tottenham and Pochettino, who The Sun report have been watching the teenager in action.
The report adds that the north London outfit’s only hope of signing Aarons is if they loan him straight back to the Norfolk club, who are under no pressure to sell given they cashed in on Jacob Murphy and James Maddison.
Why is Pochettino going back on his word?
Earlier this month when Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier were absent through injury for the Champions League clash at Barcelona, Pochettino said that he had no qualms about starting Walker-Peters at the Camp Nou as he felt he had a big future at the club – he also recently signed a new long-term contract until 2023.
That is exactly what the Argentine manager did, and even though he praised him after the game and said he wouldn’t be leaving on loan during the January transfer window, the potential arrival of Aarons at Spurs would surely throw his future into doubt given the options they already have at right-back, and the fact that the Norwich youngster is so highly-rated.
If Aarons turned out to be the long-term right-back option for Tottenham, then surely Walker-Peters won’t want to stay.
